The Door Participates in Point Source Youth's Direct Cash Transfer Pilot Prevention DCT-P Program
The Door recently had the privilege of participating in the Direct Cash Transfer as Prevention (DCT-P) pilot program, a groundbreaking initiative led by Point Source Youth (PSY). Point Source Youth is a national nonprofit dedicated to ending youth homelessness through innovative and evidence-based approaches. The Door was one of seven communities across the United States working together on this transformative effort, exchanging insights and amplifying the DCT-P program’s collective impact. This initiative empowers and places trust in young people by providing them with financial resources to overcome barriers to safe and stable housing.
As part of The Door’s DCT-P program, our organization distributed $180,080 in direct cash assistance to 52 young people at risk of homelessness in our community. Many of these young people used their funds to pay rent, cover essential expenses, and stabilize their living situations.
Kelsey Louie, CEO of The Door, proudly joined a panel discussion at the recent Point Source Youth (PSY) Innovation Summit. During the panel, Kelsey highlighted the transformative impact of the DCT-P and shared insights into how direct cash transfers have helped stabilize at-risk youth in our community. This opportunity underscored the importance of this work and allowed us to contribute to the broader conversation about innovative strategies to end youth homelessness.
While the pilot has concluded, its lessons will continue to inform national efforts to support young people in achieving housing stability and independence. We remain committed to advancing initiatives that prioritize the voices and needs of youth, and we are grateful to have been part of this pioneering effort.
