
The Door Honored by Village Independent Democrats (VID) at 2024 VID Gala
The Door was thrilled to be among this year's honorees at the NYC Village Independent Democrats (VID) 2024 Gala. VID's annual gala event, which took place on September 10 at Ristorante Rafele in lower Manhattan, spotlights the work of great New Yorkers and organizations that change the lives of New Yorkers and the country.
A delightful, celebratory evening was had by all in attendance, including local electeds and government officials, progressive champions, and community leaders. CEO Kelsey Louie accepted the VID award on behalf of The Door, accompanied by Chief Advancement Officer Kirkley Strand and Vice President of Policy and Strategy Gabriella Sperduto.
Other 2024 awardees included American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten, grassroots community activists organization Downtown Nasty Women, and VID Treasurer Irene Kaufman. Past recent honorees include NYC Councilmember Eric Bottcher, activist group Rise and Resist, Haitian immigrant advocate Jean Montrevil.
