The Door's Youth Arts Council participates in the Music and Youth Development Association Convergence

Last month, Alejandro Rodriguez, Assistant Director of Arts Programming, along with Elle Prado and Miraku Da Jali, inaugural Youth Arts Council (YAC) members, attended the Music and Youth Development Association  (MYDA) Convergence in New Orleans, LA organized by the ELMA Music Foundation and hosted by the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP).

YAC members had the opportunity to connect with similar music programs from across the country shared best practices, program challenges, briefly collaborated in preparation for a Talent Show at The Ellis Marsalis Center for Music in the heart of the 9th Ward. Program staff had the opportunity to share community with other program leaders and envision how the MYDA collective can better collaborate and start planning for the Convergence in 2024. The Door representatives left inspired and invigorated as we roll out Summer Intensives and Fall Programming.
