Celebrating National Nutrition Month
As part of our activities marking National Nutrition Month, we were thrilled to have our nutrition partners at Stop & Shop onsite for our “Better for You” cooking demo event. Stop & Shop Registered Dietician Tina McGeough co-led the activities with our own Managing Director of Culinary Initiatives and Community Wellness Sunetra Rangraj.
Through their step-by-step demo, The Door’s young people learned more about paths to healthy eating and sampled some delicious, easy recipes, and raffle winners walked away with Stop & Shop gift cards. Two of the treats prepared during the demo were Cuban-style black beans with plantains, a quick, no-cook recipe that can be made in 10 minutes with 5 ingredients, and a refreshing rainforest smoothie, which uses tropical fruit for a sweet-tart flavor and kale for fiber.
