An Open Letter to Our NYC Young People
The Door remains open—and everyone is welcome here. No matter what.
We are a safe, inclusive, and welcoming haven for young people of all identities and lived experiences. For more than 53 years, we have been a sanctuary for NYC youth, and we aren’t going anywhere.
Whatever may happen in the wider political landscape, we are here for you. We will fight to protect your rights, your safety, your freedom, and your well-being—so you can be and celebrate who you are, expand your possibilities, and pursue your dreams.
Our Doors and Programs Are Open
The Door’s free programs for young people ages 12–24 remain fully operational, and you can access our full range of services and supports.
Whether you need legal immigration services, reproductive health care, mental health services, gender-affirming care, housing, access to food and other basic, daily needs, or just a safe, caring space to be, we are here. Our dedicated, compassionate staff, and our holistic programs and services are open to you.
Protecting Your Rights is Our Priority
The Privacy and Safety of Our Young People is Our Priority.
The Door provides services to anyone age 12-24 regardless of immigration status. Our Manhattan and Bronx locations and services, including our Bronx 24-hour Drop-In Center, are open to you, regardless of your status, and your privacy will be respected. Immigration status is also protected under HIPAA regulations that protect patients' health information, and we remain as committed as ever to ensuring your confidential information is secure.
