The Door provides a wide range of programs and services to its lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) members, including individual and group counseling, leadership development, advocacy, and recreational activities.
The Door’s counseling services for LGBTQ young people include both individual and group counseling, which can include crisis counseling, coming out therapy, and creative arts therapy, and counseling groups addressing issues facing LGBTQ young people. The Door’s popular Skittlez program for LGBTQ young people offers weekly meetings for young people to socialize and discuss issues relevant to LGBTQ youth, such as sexual health, relationships, and gender identity.
The Door also offers a range of recreational and leadership development activities for LGBTQ young people. These include film screenings, speakers, sexual health workshops, the creation of a Door float for the Pride parade, observation of World AIDS Day, and a trip for young leaders to the Creating Change conference.
