A nutritionist is available to meet with young people individually and in group settings for consultation regarding healthy dietary options, exercise, and weight management.
Weekly cooking and exercise classes, where participants learn how to make wise food choices and prepare quick and healthy meals and snacks, are open to young people.
BODY & SOUL
Body & Soul is a 10-week program in which young people learn about nutrition, fitness, and body image through educational workshops and opportunities.
Members of Body & Soul work with a nutritionist and a physical arts instructor to develop an individualized plan to help them meet their goals. Participants also work with a counselor to learn how to prevent stress from derailing their nutrition and fitness goals.
Body & Soul participants utilize the Houston Street Center and engage in various group fitness activities including swimming, weight training, Pilates, yoga, circuit training, and dance. Participants also receive instruction in healthy meal preparation through Center Space “Cook Shops” and learn about healthy meal choices when dining out.
