The Adolescent Health Center of The Door is committed to providing high quality, confidential health care services to young people between the ages of 12 and 21. Our staff of caring professionals provides clinical services in a youth-friendly setting, with sensitivity to the cultural, gender, religious and sexuality issues affecting our diverse community.
AHC services include:
- Primary health care
- Physical examinations for school or sports
- Reproductive health care, including birth control
- Reproductive medical exams for men
- Gynecological services
- Pregnancy testing/options counseling
- Emergency contraception
- HIV Counseling and testing (including rapid testing)
- STD screening and treatment
- Nutritional counseling
- Health education
- Dental exams, screening and cleaning
We also offer an onsite medical supply room that supplies a limited range of commonly needed medications, including contraceptives (condoms, birth control pills, Depo Provera) and STD treatment. Click here to view the AHC brochure.
An Entitlements Counselor is on site to assist young people with Medicaid, Family Planning Benefit Plan (FPBP), and Family Planning Extension Program (FPEP) benefit applications in a completely confidential setting. No Parental/Guardian permission required!
PAUS: Peers Against Unsafe Sex
Sexual Health Education for Young People by Young People
PAUS peer educators are local, college-age students who work as facilitators and role models in middle school. high school, and community-based workshops. Workshops are FREE and cover a range of health topics including body image, HIV/AIDS, healthy relationships, and LGBTQ issues.
Dental Services
The Adolescent Health Center has a licensed Dental Hygienist on staff to provide young people with routine dental care. After receiving dental clearance from a member of the AHC clinical staff, young people can make an appointment with the Dental Hygienist for the following services:
- General Exams
- Oral Hygiene Instruction
- Dental Education
- Fluoride Treatments
- Sealants
