Straight-to-Work helps young people develop core work-readiness skills enabling them to secure and maintain employment.

Young people seeking immediate assistance with job placements enter Straight-to-Work. In Straight-to-Work, young people complete a series of workshops over a four-week period.

The Straight-to-Work series builds core work-readiness skills, such as:

  • • Resume writing
  • • Interviewing skills
  • • Diversity in the workplace
  • • “Dress for Success”
  • • Email, Internet, and introduction to Microsoft Word
  • • Money management and budgeting
  • • Time management
  • • Workplace ethics and conflict resolution

Young people completing the Straight-to-Work series develop a work portfolio and are prepared to earn the National Work Readiness Credential. Young people who are prepared to seek placements move into CITE.
