Straight-to-Work helps young people develop core work-readiness skills enabling them to secure and maintain employment.
Young people seeking immediate assistance with job placements enter Straight-to-Work. In Straight-to-Work, young people complete a series of workshops over a four-week period.
The Straight-to-Work series builds core work-readiness skills, such as:
- • Resume writing
- • Interviewing skills
- • Diversity in the workplace
- • “Dress for Success”
- • Email, Internet, and introduction to Microsoft Word
- • Money management and budgeting
- • Time management
- • Workplace ethics and conflict resolution
Young people completing the Straight-to-Work series develop a work portfolio and are prepared to earn the National Work Readiness Credential. Young people who are prepared to seek placements move into CITE.
