The Door’s ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) program provides education services for young people who would like to improve their mastery of the English language.
The ESOL program combines classroom instruction with real-life experiential opportunities. Students also participate in workshops through The Door’s Health, Legal, Career and Counseling departments to support proficiency in English while addressing issues critical to their development as a citizen and adult. Classes taught in English are offered Monday-Friday.
The INTERNATIONAL CENTER OF NEW YORK/CONVERSATION PARTNER PROGRAM matches an adult partner with a student to practice English through conversation. Partners meet on Wednesdays, 6-7PM. In addition, students from New York University’s Words Without Borders provide support and mentoring to students in the program.
