Recreation
A safe space to meet, learn and share with each other
Along with health, legal, education, counseling and career services, The Door offers recreational, fitness and performance opportunities on a daily basis.
The "heart" of Door activity is Center Space — the 1st floor open area designed for performances, meetings, games, workshops and other activities. There’s always something going on in Center Space!
Fitness
The Door's 1st floor fitness room includes a weight machine and exercise space, as well as several Dance Dance Revolution machines and a Wii Fit. Keep an eye out for workout classes, workshops and other activities to help you stay in shape!
In addition, The Door has a gym in the basement where young people gather to play basketball and other games on a regular basis.
For more information about Fitness opportunities at The Door, please contact Andria Cuello at 212-941-9090 ext. 3308
Open Mic
Open mic sessions happen every Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. in Center Space. Here is your chance to perform musical pieces and spoken word, sing, dance and showcase your other artistic pieces for feedback and praise from your peers. To learn more about Open Mic nights at The Door, click here
Kiki Function

Physical Arts

Structured Recreation and Community Building
In addition to these programs, every afternoon you’ll find activities going on that can give you a chance to hang out and have fun with other young people. Daily activities include:
- Chess
- Arts and crafts
- Discussion groups
- And much, much more!
