Broome Street Academy Charter High School Now Approved!
Broome Street Academy Charter High School has been approved by the State University of New York Board of Trustees!
In August of 2011 Broome Street Academy will open its doors to prepare New York City's most vulnerable young people to graduate with a Regents Diploma.
Broome Street Academy will specifically focus on New York City's most at-risk students, especially those living in marginalized housing situations and those coming from very low performing middle schools. Up to 80 percent of youth who are homeless, involved in child welfare and educationally neglected by the public systems typically drop out of school. The goal of Broome Street Academy is to triple the current graduation rates for this population. In addition, the Academy's partnership with The Door is a unique model that will seamlessly integrate public education, rigorous curriculum and youth development under one roof.
