Responsibilities:
- Conduct intake and provide services to documented and undocumented immigrant youth
- Handle diverse immigration caseload, including applications for family-based visas, U visas, VAWA visas, T visas, employment authorization, legal permanent residence, and Special Immigration Juvenile Status visas
- Represent clients where appropriate in administrative capacity
- Prepare and deliver documents for court filing
- Assist in preparation and filing of petitions and motions in state and administrative courts correspondence
- Responsible for the documentation and reporting of service delivery, to ensure compliance with funding requirements
- Assist Legal Services Director with the Legal Services Education Program, which includes the planning and provision of Legal Services Education workshops on immigration rights and other topics and outreach to social service and community-based organizations
- Assist senior legal staff with legal projects, as assigned
- Other functions and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Minimum of 1 year paralegal experience, preferably in social services sector
- Experience working with youth, family law and immigration law issues preferred
- In depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles
- The ability to perform legal research
- The ability to interview witnesses and document what is learned
- The ability to prioritize and work under multiple deadlines
- Basic computer skills, as well as legal research skills
- Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin, preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Salary:
$35,000 to $40,000

35 hours per week
