Overview:

The EPOCH program is the start of a new period in a young person’s life marked by radical change and new developments. EPOCH is designed to help a young person assess, set and obtain their educational and career goals. The program specifically allows a young person to craft an individualized life plan defining the steps he/she will take to achieve those goals while developing the necessary skills for future life success and independence. The Career Learning Opportunity Supervisor is responsible for development and ongoing management of the Door’s Career Learning Opportunities (CLOs), which are internal internships designed to provide vocational skill development and work experience for EPOCH participants, who are assessed to need a more supportive work environment before they move into an external placement. In this capacity, the Supervisor will develop training materials and standardized procedures for each CLO and supervise CLO participants and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a range of Career Learning Opportunities from department-based internships to sector-specific opportunities such as the Door Store, Door Café, Model Office, Radio Production Lab, Graphic Design Studio, etc.
  • Work with CLO staff to develop common work readiness and sector-specific training curriculum for each CLO.
  • Facilitate CLO workshops for participants
  • Create standardized CLO application, assessment and screening processes
  • Develop and conduct orientation sessions for CLO participants and supervisors
  • Develop CLO policy handbook for use by CLO participants
  • Supervise CLO staff and ensure staff are meeting programmatic goals
  • Conduct weekly check-ins with all CLO work site supervisors to get feedback on young people’s performance and address any issues or concerns that arise
  • Provide on-going assessment, guidance and support of CLO participants
  • Provide feedback to EPOCH team regarding young people’s CLO experiences, challenges, and successes, to help inform the content and structure of training, placement, and supportive services
  • Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team to increase our services to youth and to continually make adjustments to provide the appropriate individualized program plans for each young person
  • Collect and maintain all EPOCH program documentation and case records pursuant to data management procedures and contractual obligations
  • Demonstrated understanding and practice of the principles of positive youth development
  • Attend all relevant meetings, trainings, workshops and outside events
  • Handle any appropriate responsibilities and functions as assigned by Supervisor and/or Director

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree preferred, Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education or related field and two years experience in youth development, preferably employment and career oriented programs required
  • Previous program development and supervision experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of educational/vocational, social service, and health/mental health programs for young adults
  • Strong assessment skills
  • Ability to create and facilitate workshops and trainings
  • Ability to closely collaborate with colleagues and function as part of a team to promote successful outcomes for youth
  • Ability to model work readiness skills and appropriate work place behavior at all times
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred

Salary:

Commensurate with experience

Hours:

35 hours per week
