Development and Achievement Specialist

Overview:

The EPOCH program is the start of a new period in a young person’s life marked by radical change and new developments. EPOCH is designed to help a young person assess, set and obtain their educational and career goals. The program specifically allows a young person to craft a personalized life plan defining the steps he/she will take to achieve those goals while developing the necessary skills for future life success and independence. The Development and Achievement Specialist is responsible for providing guidance and support to young people from their enrollment into the EPOCH program until they are transitioned to a Career Advancement Coach. The Development and Achievement Specialist will identify and respond to ongoing needs, and guide each young person in developing an Individualized Life Plan to set program goals and enable the young person to apply his/her strengths/talents to sustain program participation and the attainment of educational, life, and career goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Work one-on-one with the young people to develop and set individualized personal educational and career goals in the form of an Individualized Life Plan
  • Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team working with each young person to support the achievement of his/her goals as defined in the individualized life plan
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and practice the principles of positive Youth Development
  • Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team to increase services to youth and to continually make adjustments to provide the appropriate individualized program plans for each young person
  • Provide intensive coordination and integration of necessary services, including monitoring and documenting participants progress toward goals
  • Facilitate in case conferencing
  • Assist with the facilitation of EPOCH workshops, including the maintenance of all EPOCH program documentation and case records
  • Support clients in finding and participating in curricular and extracurricular activities
  • Collect and maintain case records pursuant to data-management procedures and contractual obligations
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed
  • Handle any appropriate responsibilities and functions as assigned by supervisor and/or director

Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Education, Vocational Counseling, Social Work or related field
  • Two years experience in youth development, preferably employment and career oriented programs
  • Demonstrated skills in teaching
  • Demonstrate group facilititation
  • Ability to facilitate groups and other learning activities and foster team cohesion
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred

Salary:

High 30’s to Low 40’s

Hours:

35 hours a week
